IlluviDEX Marketplace
IlluviDEX
Marketplace UX, product ownership, and feature design for the central trading hub across the Illuvium ecosystem.
Project
IlluviDEX is Illuvium's marketplace where players can buy, sell, and trade in-game assets across the Illuvium ecosystem. It includes the Fuel Exchange, the upcoming Illuviary, Beyond sale events, and a Cosmetic Store.
The platform acts as a central hub for trading, combining elements of an exchange and a PokeDex.
Our Work
Initial UX Design
Our studio joined just before the launch of the IlluviDEX, which facilitated a 72 million dollar land sale for Illuvium: Zero. We started by reworking the information architecture and designing for new asset categories, including those for Illuvium: Beyond.
Product Ownership
We then moved into a product ownership role, rewriting documentation, creating feature descriptions, user stories, and acceptance criteria. We prioritised product development and led the redesign of the IlluviDEX structure so it could support more than twenty asset categories across four games.
Feature Design
We designed several key features that shaped the trading experience.
- Offers System: enabled players to negotiate prices and created a more flexible, engaging marketplace.
- Grouped Asset Folders: provided an overview of unique asset types within collections, which made navigation and discovery easier.
- Sitewide Cart Checkout: streamlined the purchasing flow into a fast, single-click checkout.
- Batch Listing and Transferring: allowed power users to list and transfer multiple assets at once, which optimised high-volume trading.
- Ability Overlay: added granular item information at a glance so players could make better decisions without leaving the listing context.
Ongoing Enhancements
We also managed onboarding, fund transfers, account settings, and a series of ongoing improvements. These were driven by user feedback collected through a dedicated Discord forum that we initiated and moderated.
Outcome
The IlluviDEX continues to evolve based on real player feedback and now supports thousands of trades each day.
The new structure and features have improved usability, reduced friction in core flows, and made asset management across the platform significantly more efficient.
